4 Months (Ongoing)
To overcome the slow, error-prone, and costly process of manual medical claims preparation, a leading US-based RCM provider partnered with Neurix AI. We developed an intelligent automation platform that uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) to read unstructured clinical notes and instantly suggest the correct medical billing codes (ICD-10 and CPT). The system then automatically "scrubs" each claim against a complex, AI-powered rules engine to detect and flag errors before submission. This solution dramatically increases the speed and accuracy of their entire claims workflow, slashing denial rates and accelerating revenue for their hospital and clinic clients.
At a Glance
Client: A leading US-based provider of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) outsourcing services.
Challenge: In a competitive market, the client needed to move beyond traditional, manual claims processing. Their reliance on human-intensive data entry and coding was slow, led to costly errors and denials, and failed to showcase the technological innovation needed to attract and retain top-tier hospital clients.
Solution: Neurix AI developed "RevClarity," a custom-built, AI-powered RCM co-pilot. This sophisticated platform automates the entire claims lifecycle, from intelligent document parsing and AI-driven medical coding to a unique, simulated adjudication loop for denial management.
Results:
90% reduction in claim preparation time, automating tasks that previously took hours.
Projected 40% decrease in denial rates due to proactive AI-powered claim scrubbing and compliance checks.
Delivered a "hyper-realistic" demo platform that became a powerful sales asset for winning new business.
Successfully created a "closed-loop" system where the AI not only identifies problems but provides clear, actionable solutions.

The Challenge: Beyond Manual Processing in a High-Stakes Industry
For our client, a leader in the RCM space, operational efficiency and accuracy are paramount. Their teams of skilled agents, like the persona "Priya," were bogged down by a laborious and fragmented workflow. They had to manually sift through complex patient documents, decipher physician notes, translate them into the correct billing codes, and cross-reference them against an ever-changing landscape of payer-specific rules.
This manual process created several critical business challenges:
High Error Rate: The complexity of the work inevitably led to errors, resulting in claim denials that delayed revenue for their clients and increased their own operational costs.
Operational Bottlenecks: The process was impossible to scale effectively. Hiring more staff was a linear solution to an exponential problem.
Lack of a Competitive Edge: To grow, the company needed to do more than just process claims; they needed to demonstrate technological superiority. They needed a tool that was not just functional but "hyper-realistic" and impressive enough to become the centerpiece of their sales demos to new hospital systems.
The Solution: Building RevClarity, an End-to-End AI Co-Pilot
Neurix AI partnered with the client to build RevClarity, a visionary platform that redefines the role of the RCM agent. Instead of a manual processor, the agent becomes a strategic overseer, augmented by a powerful AI co-pilot that handles the heavy lifting.
We developed a web application that manages the entire claims journey with unprecedented intelligence:
Intelligent Document Ingestion: Using Azure Document Intelligence, RevClarity instantly reads and understands a variety of structured and unstructured documents—from insurance cards to messy physician notes—extracting all relevant data with high fidelity.
Automated Claim Creation: The extracted data is used to automatically populate a digital claim form (mimicking the CMS-1500), saving hours of manual data entry.
AI-Powered Medical Coding (RAG): The AI analyzes the clinical context and suggests the most accurate CPT and ICD-10 codes. It leverages a custom Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline to query an internal, vectorized database of medical codes, ensuring suggestions are not just plausible but contextually precise.
Proactive Compliance Scrubbing: Before submission, a dedicated AI step flags potential compliance issues (like missing modifiers) and then automatically applies the necessary corrections to generate a "clean" claim.
AI Adjudication & Denial Management: In a groundbreaking feature for a demo tool, an "AI Payer" simulates the adjudication process. It intelligently decides to either approve the claim or deny it, providing realistic denial codes (CARC/RARC), a plain-English root cause analysis, and a clear, actionable recommendation for the agent to correct and resubmit.
The result is a closed-loop system where the RCM agent, "Priya," is empowered to manage claims with speed, accuracy, and confidence.
The Results: From Operational Tool to a Strategic Sales Weapon
RevClarity was an unqualified success, fundamentally changing our client's operational capabilities and their position in the market.
Immediate, measurable impact:
Drastic Efficiency Gains: The platform automated the most time-consuming parts of claim creation, reducing preparation time from hours to minutes.
Enhanced Accuracy: The multi-stage AI validation and scrubbing process is projected to cut denial rates by up to 40%, directly impacting the bottom line for their clients.
A "Game-Changing" Demo: The "hyper-realistic" platform became the client's most powerful sales tool. It allowed them to visually and interactively demonstrate their technological supremacy, a key differentiator in the competitive RCM landscape.
The project's vision, driven by key stakeholders, was fully realized, leading to powerful endorsements:
"Neurix AI didn't just build a tool; they built our new strategic advantage. RevClarity has become the centerpiece of our sales process. The ability to demo a live, intelligent, end-to-end claims lifecycle has been a game-changer in conversations with prospective clients. The team's ability to translate our ambitious vision into a functional, impressive reality was exceptional." - VP of Product
The platform immediately empowered the teams who used it every day:
"RevClarity lets my team focus on what matters. Instead of tedious data entry, they're making strategic decisions based on AI recommendations. The denial analysis feature is incredible—it doesn't just tell us what's wrong, it tells us why and how to fix it. It's a true co-pilot." - RCM Team Lead
Technical Deep Dive: The Architecture of an AI RCM Engine
Building RevClarity required a modern, robust, and highly intelligent technical architecture capable of orchestrating complex, multi-step AI workflows.
The application is built on a FastAPI (Python) backend, providing a high-performance API layer, and a Next.js (TypeScript) frontend for a responsive and interactive user experience. The UI was rapidly developed using shadcn/ui and Tailwind CSS. The entire application is containerized with Docker, with data persisted in a PostgreSQL database.
The Intelligent Core: A Multi-Stage AI Pipeline

The "magic" of RevClarity lies in its sophisticated, asynchronous AI processing pipeline orchestrated by Celery and Redis. When a new claim is initiated, a series of AI tasks are triggered:
Document Intelligence Layer: We use Azure Document Intelligence as the first step for its superior OCR and layout-aware capabilities, ensuring high-fidelity data extraction from diverse medical documents.
Reasoning & Structuring Layer: Data is then passed to Azure OpenAI models (GPT-4), which act as the reasoning engine. This layer validates data, structures it into the required format, and performs initial analysis.
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for Coding: For best-in-class medical coding accuracy, we implemented a custom RAG pipeline. The entire ICD-10 code library was vectorized using embedding models and stored in our PostgreSQL database with the pgvector extension. When the AI needs to suggest a diagnosis code, it first retrieves the most semantically relevant codes from this internal knowledge base before generating its final, highly accurate recommendation.
AI Adjudication Engine: The simulation of claim approvals and denials is also powered by Azure OpenAI. The model is prompted with the clean claim data and the patient's policy information, allowing it to generate a contextually aware and realistic outcome, complete with industry-standard denial reason codes.
This carefully architected stack allowed us to deliver a platform that is not only intelligent and feature-rich but also scalable, stable, and ready to redefine the standards of Revenue Cycle Management.
